-Horse Nume BLACK VINTAGE-
Commissioned to Shinki Hikaku, a company committed to managing all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized globally for its history, affection, and pride in horse leather, employing 100% vegetable tannin pit tanning.
Even in an age prioritizing efficiency, they continue to use pit tanning for horse leather, which is the most time-consuming method.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible texture, the polished edge that shines with mere friction, and the increasing depth of luster with use, all characteristic of pit-tanned horse leather.
The Exquisite Art of Dyeing
This Black Vintage color is created by a complex dyeing process where the core of the horse leather is dyed a brownish base color without soaking in dye, then a translucent black is applied over it.
The Exquisite Art of Finishing
After achieving a thick luster through glazing, the leather is milled to create wrinkles and a frosted appearance.
Milling brings out the richer expressions of the grain surface, resulting from the differences in fiber quality across various parts of the leather.
This horse nude black vintage leather, with its wonderful inherent qualities and the abundant application of techniques from Shinki Hikaku, who has a long history of working with horse leather, is used in each product. Each item is meticulously crafted based on production standards developed to maximize the potential of this horse nude leather.
-Niloticus (Nile CR)-
The Nile crocodile lives in freshwater in Africa. Among freshwater crocodiles, it is the largest, second only to the saltwater crocodile in size. It typically grows to a length of 4.1 to 5 meters and weighs around 410 kilograms. The Nile crocodile is a very ferocious crocodile, and in the past, many people lost their lives, troubling the people of Africa. However, with the development of aquaculture in Africa, various problems such as poverty alleviation, safety maintenance, electricity supply, soil improvement, and an increase in population have been improved through the efforts of the exotic leather industry and African countries.
Himalaya Finish
This is our first time offering this at MANIFOLD.
This beautiful finish, called "Himalaya finish," is not achieved by dyeing to create its beautiful gradation of colors. Through the outstanding skill of the tanner during the tanning process, the belly part becomes a beautiful white, and the brownish parts on both sides transition to lighter shades. It starts with strict selection criteria at the raw hide stage, looking for those where the boundary between the brownish sides and the white belly is a straight vertical line, and where the belly is clean, white, and free of blemishes or scratches. Despite these strict selections, the true Himalaya finish is only revealed after tanning. Please enjoy the "Himalaya finish," which is born from the link between the natural beauty of crocodile skin and the tanner's skill.
