Currently, the elephant leather distributed is from African elephants.
It is characterized by large folds and wrinkles that vary by area, and upon closer inspection, a finely granular, raised grain (epidermis).
The more it is used, the more luster it gains, and the thick elephant leather has a substantial feel.
By skiving only near the edges, we have created a beautiful edge surface that integrates with the horse naked leather, while preserving the substantial feel of the elephant leather.

Entrusted to Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized globally for their history, love, and pride in horse leather, they use 100% vegetable tannin pit tanning.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the pit tanning of horse naked leather, which is the most time-consuming process.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible feel, the lustrous polished edges, and the increasing depth of shine with use, all inherent in pit-tanned horse naked leather.

A New Gray Vintage, One Year in the Making
The Horse Naked Leather Gray Vintage was realized through the exceptional craftsmanship of Shinki Hikaku.
Over the course of approximately one year since the prototype last year, Shinki Hikaku addressed and resolved all issues identified in the prototype samples.

・Unlike finishes for apparel or bags, the leather fiber tightness was tailored specifically for wallets and small accessories.
・The adhesion between the grain and flesh side increased, resulting in a tighter horse naked leather.

The result is an ideal horse naked leather with minimal grain lift.

Each item is crafted with standards designed to maximize the inherent qualities of horse naked leather and the techniques generously applied by Shinki Hikaku, who have long dialogued with horsehide, creating this horse naked leather Gray Vintage.
