-ELEFANT-
Currently, the leather in circulation is from African elephants.
It is characterized by large folds and wrinkles that vary by section, and upon closer inspection, a finely granular, raised grain (epidermis).
The luster increases with use, and the thick elephant leather has a profound feel.
By skiving the edges diagonally, we have created a beautiful edge that integrates with the horse nude leather, while still leveraging the profound feel of the elephant leather.
This elephant leather features a very labor-intensive finish, where a blue pearl color is applied only to the concave parts of the black-dyed surface, revealing various expressions depending on the viewing angle and light.
It is a pearl navy that embodies a subtle playfulness for adults, crafted by the hands of artisans.
-Horse Nume BLUE VINTAGE-
Entrusted to Shinki Hikaku, a company whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized globally for its history, love, and pride in horse leather, it uses 100% vegetable-tanned pit tanning.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, it continues the legacy of pit-tanned horse nude leather, which takes the longest time.
Enjoy the firm yet flexible feel, the polished edges that shine with a simple buff, and the deep luster that develops with use, all inherent in pit-tanned horse nude leather.
The Art of Dyeing
The base color is dyed a vibrant blue, then a translucent dark blue hue is applied over it, and finally, paraffin is infused using heat.
This complex three-layer dyeing and finishing process creates the unique color of this Blue Vintage.
The Art of Finishing
After glazing to achieve a thick, glossy finish, the leather undergoes a揉み (momi) process to create a wrinkled and whitened effect.
The揉み (momi) process further accentuates the rich texture of the grain, highlighting differences in fiber quality across various parts of the leather.
Horse Nume Blue Vintage, made with the splendid characteristics of horse nude leather and the extensive techniques of Shinki Hikaku, which has a long history of working with horse leather.
Each item is meticulously crafted according to our manufacturing standards, which are designed to maximize the beauty of this horse nude leather.
