Commissioned Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, and finishing in-house.
Recognized worldwide for their history, love, and pride in horse leather, they use 100% vegetable tannin pit tanning.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the pit tanning of horse naked leather, which takes the longest time.
Please enjoy the firm elasticity, flexibility, shiny edge surfaces from simple polishing, and the deepening luster as it is used, which are all characteristics of pit-tanned horse naked leather.

Artistry of Dyeing Technology
The base color is dyed a vibrant blue, then a translucent dark blue hue is applied, and finally, paraffin is infused using heat.
This complex three-layer dyeing and finishing process creates the unique blue vintage color.

Artistry of Finishing
After achieving a thick luster through glazing, a揉み (momi, kneading) process is applied to create wrinkles and a frosted appearance.
The揉み (momi, kneading) process brings out the rich expressions of the grain surface, due to differences in fiber quality in different parts of the leather.

Shinki Hikaku has succeeded in producing their world-renowned cordovan, honed through over 40 years of research and technical expertise since its establishment, and continues to do so today.
Shinki Hikaku's cordovan is horse leather that has been transported by sea from Europe, undergone a long period of aging and tanning, then the dense fiber layer found only in the horse's buttocks is shaved from the back, and then meticulously processed through further aging and drying, taking a total of 10 months to finish.
