Horsehide, due to the animal's high activity levels, is often characterized by more scratches and scuffs compared to cowhide. However, these natural marks, including "tora" (tiger stripes) and blood vessels, are embraced as testament to life and contribute to the rich texture of the leather.
As you use it, the wax will gradually blend in, revealing the leather's original color and expression with a beautiful luster.

Commissioned from Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized globally for its history, love, and pride in horsehide, it employs 100% vegetable tannin pit tanning.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, they uphold pit tanning, the most time-consuming method, for horse nume leather.
Please savor the firm yet flexible core of pit-tanned horse nume, the lustrous edges that shine with simple polishing, and the deepening sheen with use.

The Art of Dyeing Technique
This Black Vintage color is created by a complex dyeing process where the base color is deliberately dyed with an uneven black without saturating the core of the horse nume leather, and then overlaid with a translucent brown.

The Art of Finishing
After achieving a thick luster through glazing, a揉み加工 (momi-kako,揉み加工) process is applied to create wrinkles and a whitish effect.
This momi-kako process brings out a richer expression on the grain surface, due to differences in fiber quality across various parts of the leather.

This Blue Vintage color is created by a complex, three-layered dyeing and finishing process: the base is dyed a vivid blue, then overlaid with a translucent dark blue, and finally paraffin is permeated using heat.
