Horse full-grain leather (pit tanning: Shinki Hikaku)
Square spring hook (nickel color)
Machine Sewing
Commissioned to Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized globally for their 100% vegetable-tanned pit-tanned leather, based on their history, love, and pride for horsehide.
Even in an age where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the tradition of pit-tanning horse full-grain leather, which is the most time-consuming process.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible texture, the beautifully polished edges, and the deep luster that develops with use, inherent in pit-tanned horse full-grain leather.
-Horse Full-Grain BLACK VINTAGE-
Mastery of Dyeing Technique
This black vintage color is created by a complex dyeing process where the base color is a brown tone, without allowing the dye to penetrate the core of the horse full-grain leather, and then a translucent black dye is applied over it.
Mastery of Finishing Technique
After achieving a thick luster through glazing, a揉み (momi) process is applied to create wrinkles and a frosted effect.
The揉み (momi) process further accentuates the rich expressions of the grain surface, due to differences in fiber quality across various parts of the leather.
-Horse Full-Grain BLUE VINTAGE-
Mastery of Dyeing Technique
This blue vintage color is created through a complex, three-layer dyeing and finishing process: the base color is dyed a vibrant blue, followed by a translucent dark blue dye, and finally paraffin is permeated using heat.

-Horse Full-Grain GRAY VINTAGE-
New Gray Vintage, developed over a year
Horse Full-Grain Gray Vintage, made possible by Shinki Hikaku's exceptional craftsmanship.
It took approximately one year from last year's prototype to resolve all issues with the sample, thanks to Shinki Hikaku's improvements.
・The firmness of the full-grain fibers, different from finishes for clothing or bags, was perfected for wallets and small leather goods.
・Increased adhesion between the grain and flesh sides resulted in a firm horse full-grain leather.
The ideal horse full-grain leather finish with minimal grain lift has been achieved.
Each item is meticulously crafted to our production standards, aiming to maximize the wonderful inherent qualities of horse full-grain leather and the vintage colors, which are the result of Shinki Hikaku's extensive expertise and long-standing engagement with horsehide.
