For the 2026 TEST SAMPLE,
we actively adopted dahl plating for the metal parts,
and brown core leather with a wax finish based on horse nume leather.

We will name this combination of brown-core horse nume leather + dahl-plated metal fittings
"- GB Specification -" (Germanic Bronze Specification) and develop it accordingly.


Dahl plating is said to derive from the English word "Dark"
or from its darkish color, "Darl."

Historically, dahl plating had various color variations
and was widely popularized as a luxurious decoration in the Japanese furniture industry from the 1960s to the 1970s.

The manufacturing method involves thinly plating black onto brass or copper.
When new, the finish is not just black; subtle gradations emerge due to uneven coloring and light.
As it is used, the metal parts also develop a brown core texture, which is a characteristic of dahl plating.


Among the various shades of dahl plating,
there is a color name called Germanic Bronze.

Horse nume leather possesses a grain (ginmen) with contradictory elements: toughness and flexibility.
I feel that it is a special leather that is strong against tensile force and flexible, making it resistant to scratches.

Brown-core horse nume leather, a new initiative started in 2025.
A challenge from "vintage feel" to "antique feel."
A black color that creates an antique feel where the underlying dye is subtly translucent.

The -GB specification- was born because this horse nume leather was created.

What kind of leather is horse nume, and how can its wonderfulness be maximized?
These past few years, including previous experiences, have taught me a lot.
Various textures can be created depending on the tailoring.

Horse nume leather by Shinki Hikaku is [Delicate yet Tough and Versatile].
These contradictory elements are the essence of horse nume leather.
The fibers are very fine, and the tensile strength of the grain far surpasses that of cow nume leather.
The changes in appearance and texture due to the finish are diverse.
I feel that it is a special leather that is strong against tensile force and flexible, making it resistant to scratches.


[Metal Parts]

For the -GB specification-, original brass rings with dahl plating are used.
EXCELLA zippers are used in black.
Both the brown core of the horse nume leather and the brown core of the dahl plating will be referred to as the [GB specification].



The interior is made of thick horse nume leather with a brown core and wax finish.
The edges are polished with a brown core.
The stitching is black.
An antique black color where the underlying color is subtly translucent.
