There are over 500 species of sharks worldwide, distributed from shallow tropical and temperate seas to the deep sea.
Over 100 species inhabit the waters around Japan.
Among them, about 20 species can be used for leather.
This product uses blue shark.

-Horse Nume BLACK VINTAGE-
Commissioned by Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, and finishing in-house.
100% vegetable-tanned pit leather, recognized worldwide for its history, love, and pride in horsehide.
In an age where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the tradition of pit-tanned horse Nume, which takes the longest time.
Please enjoy the firm yet supple texture, the beautifully polished edges, and the increasing depth of luster with use, all characteristic of pit-tanned horse Nume.

The Art of Dyeing
Without penetrating the core of the horse Nume with dye, the base color is dyed in a brownish hue, and then a translucent black dye is applied on top. This complex dyeing process creates the unique color of this Black Vintage.

The Art of Finishing
After creating a thick luster through glazing, a揉み (rubbing/kneading) process is applied to create wrinkles and a whitish effect.
This rubbing process further enhances the rich expression of the grain, which varies depending on the fiber quality of each part.

Horse Nume Black Vintage is a product that generously incorporates the wonderful characteristics of horse Nume and the techniques of Shinki Hikaku, who has conversed with horsehide for a long time.
Each piece is manufactured according to our production standards, which have been established with the aim of maximizing the potential of this horse Nume.
