-WHALE LEATHER-
This is a leather that even our "night shift manager" had never known existed or seen before.
It is [Whale Leather].
A brushed surface like nubuck, a soft and fluffy texture.
Everything about this leather is a first-time experience.

Whales are considered a blessing from the sea for Japanese people, with nothing going to waste, and have been a familiar source of valuable protein since ancient times.
Japanese people have traditionally utilized every part of the whale, from oil and meat to bones and baleen plates, without discarding anything.
Whale skin is eaten raw or blanched.
Japanese whale cuisine, which utilizes the skin, internal organs, and every part as food, is a unique food culture in the world.
Therefore, it is believed that the parts of whales that cannot be eaten became available as leather.

In 1982, the IWC (International Whaling Commission) resolved a temporary halt to commercial whaling, and Japan accepted this resolution in 1988.
Whale cuisine, which was a part of Japanese food culture, transformed from a common food to a valuable one.
As a result, whale leather also became a rare leather that is seldom seen.
(*In June 2019, Japan withdrew from the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling, and resumed commercial whaling of large cetaceans in July of the same year.)

It is now common knowledge that "leather is a byproduct of food," and no animal lives are taken solely for leather.

The fundamental principle of the leather industry is "not to waste the lives taken for human consumption."
In line with this spirit, we are introducing this rare whale leather as a middle wallet to the world.

Since [Whale Leather] was not generally distributed, we are unsure whether it will be accepted by everyone.
It is also unknown whether its value will be recognized.
This is our company's first endeavor, and we would be delighted if you would experience it firsthand.


-Horse Naked Leather BLACK VINTAGE-
Commissioned from Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning and dyeing to finishing in-house.
Recognized worldwide for its history, love, and pride in horse leather, it is a 100% vegetable-tanned pit-tanned leather.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the pit tanning of horse naked leather, which is the most time-consuming process.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible feel, the lustrous polished edges, and the deepening luster with use, all inherent in pit-tanned horse naked leather.

The exquisite art of dyeing
Without allowing the dye to penetrate the core of the horse naked leather, the base color is dyed in a brown tone, and then a translucent black color is dyed over it. This complex dyeing process creates the unique hue of this Black Vintage.

The exquisite art of finishing
After achieving a thick luster through glazing, a揉み加工 (momi-kako,揉み加工: kneading process) is applied to create a wrinkled and whitened effect.
The揉み加工 (momi-kako) further highlights the rich expression of the grain surface, resulting from the differences in fiber quality across different parts of the leather.

They have created a texture and color that further enhance the vintage feel.
