Commissioned from Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, and finishing in-house.
Recognized worldwide for its history, love, and pride for horsehide, this is a 100% vegetable-tanned pit-tanned leather.
Even in an age where efficiency is prioritized, we continue to use pit tanning for horsehide, which takes the longest time.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible feel of pit-tanned horsehide, the lustrous polished edges, and the deepening sheen with use.

The exquisite art of dyeing
The base color is intentionally dyed black with an unevenness without soaking the dye into the core of the horsehide, and then a complex dyeing process with a translucent brown color is applied on top to create the color of this Black Vintage.

The exquisite art of finishing
After achieving a thick sheen through glazing, a揉み (momi) process is applied to create wrinkles and a frosted appearance.
The揉み process brings out the rich expression of the grain surface due to the different fiber qualities in each part.

Horse Nume Black Vintage, a leather that generously incorporates the wonderful characteristics of horse Nume and the techniques of Shinki Hikaku, who have long dialogued with horsehide.
