This is a leather that even our "night shift manager" had never known or seen before.
It is [Whale Leather].
It has a napped surface like nubuck and a fluffy, soft texture.
It's a completely new experience in leather.

Whales have been a valuable marine resource for Japanese people, with virtually no part going to waste, and a crucial source of protein, making them a familiar presence since ancient times.
Japanese people are said to have utilized whales completely, from oil and meat to bones and baleen, without discarding anything.
Whale skin is eaten raw or blanched.
Japanese whale cuisine, which utilizes the skin and all internal organs as food, is a unique food culture unparalleled in the world.
Therefore, it is believed that parts of the whale that could not be eaten were distributed as leather.

In 1982, the IWC (International Whaling Commission) resolved a temporary halt to commercial whaling, and Japan accepted this resolution in 1988.
Consequently, whale cuisine, which was once a common part of Japanese food culture, transformed into a precious delicacy.
For this reason, whale leather also became a rare material that is seldom seen.
(＊In June 2019, Japan withdrew from the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling and resumed commercial whaling for large whales in July of the same year.)

It is now common knowledge that "leather is a byproduct of food," and no animal lives are taken solely for the purpose of obtaining leather.

The fundamental principle of the leather industry is to "not waste the lives taken for human consumption."
Adhering to this principle, we are introducing this rare whale leather as a middle wallet.

Since [Whale Leather] was not generally distributed, we are unsure whether it will be accepted by everyone.
It is also unknown whether its value will be recognized.

Even in an era prioritizing efficiency, they continue the most time-consuming pit tanning for horse naked leather.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible texture of pit-tanned horse naked leather, the polished edges that shine, and the deepening luster with use.

The artistry of dyeing technology
The intricate dyeing process for this Black Vintage color is created by dyeing the base color in a brown tone without allowing the dye to penetrate the core of the horse naked leather, and then dyeing it with a translucent black.

The artistry of finishing
After achieving a thick sheen through glazing, a crumpling process is applied to create a wrinkled and whitish effect.
The crumpling process makes the grain surface expressions, due to differences in fiber quality across various parts, even richer.

We had them create a texture and color that further enhance the vintage feel.
