The leather currently in circulation is from African elephants.
It is characterized by large folds and wrinkles that vary by part, and if you look closely, a finely granular, raised grain (epidermis).
The more you use it, the more luster it develops, and the thick elephant leather has a profound feel.
By skiving only the edge obliquely, we expressed a beautiful edge surface that is integrated with the horse leather while making the most of the profound feel of the elephant leather.

Commissioned from Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized worldwide for its history, love, and pride in horse leather, it is 100% vegetable-tanned pit leather.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, they continue to use pit tanning, which takes the longest time, for horse leather.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible feel, the lustrous burnished edges, and the increasing depth of luster with use, all found in pit-tanned horse leather.

The Art of Dyeing
This Black Vintage color is created by a complex dyeing process where the base color is brown, without the dye penetrating to the core of the horse leather, and then a translucent black dye is applied over it.

The Art of Finishing
After applying a thick luster through glazing, a揉み加工 (crumpling process) is performed to create wrinkles and a whitening effect.
The crumpling process brings out the rich expression of the grain, which varies depending on the fiber quality of each part.
