Commissioned to Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized worldwide for their history, love, and pride in horse leather, they use 100% vegetable tannin pit tanning.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the pit tanning of horse undyed leather, which takes the longest time.
Please enjoy the core firmness, flexibility, brilliantly polished edges, and the rich luster that deepens with use, which are all characteristics of pit-tanned horse undyed leather.

The exquisite art of dyeing
This black vintage color is created by a complex dyeing process where the base color is dyed black with an intentional unevenness without permeating the dye into the core of the horse undyed leather, and then overlaid with a translucent brown hue.

The exquisite art of finishing
After achieving a thick luster through glazing, a揉み (momi) process is applied to create wrinkles and a frosted effect.
The揉み (momi) process enhances the expression of the grain surface, showcasing the differences in fiber quality among various parts of the leather.

Horse undyed Black Vintage leather, a product of the wonderful properties of horse undyed leather and the unreserved application of Shinki Hikaku's technology, who have dialogued with horse leather for a long time.
Each item is produced based on our manufacturing standards, which have been established with the aim of maximizing the potential of this horse undyed leather.

There are over 500 species of sharks worldwide, distributed from shallow tropical and temperate seas to the deep sea.
Over 100 species inhabit the waters around Japan.
Only about 20 of these species can be used for leather.
This product uses Blue Shark leather.
