-ELEPHANT Sumi-dyed -

Currently, the elephant leather distributed is from African elephants.
It is characterized by large, distinctive folds and wrinkles in each part, and when examined closely, a finely granular, raised grain surface (epidermis).

This time, this elephant leather was finished with sumi (ink) dyeing.
Sumi ink has long presented challenges such as poor color fixation, easy fading, and color transfer.

In 2023, thanks to the long years of experience, technical expertise, and dyeing mastery of our tanner,
we succeeded in applying sumi dyeing to crocodile leather, making it resistant to severe fading and color transfer.

Utilizing this technology and dyeing mastery, we have now also succeeded in applying sumi dyeing to elephant leather.

When producing items with elephant leather,
we perform a process of skiving only the edges diagonally to express a beautiful edge surface integrated with horse nude leather, while still leveraging the substantial feel of elephant leather.

* For products made with sumi-dyed elephant leather, each item will have a different texture of wrinkles, and variations in the shade and unevenness of the sumi dye.

- Horse Nude New Gray Vintage, a year in the making -
Horse Nude Gray Vintage, realized by the exceptional craftsmanship of Shinki Hikaku.
After about a year of development since last year's prototype, Shinki Hikaku has addressed all issues found in the prototype, resulting in this finished product.

* For products in Gray Vintage, each item will have a different shade of gray and variations in unevenness.

- 2024 Horse Nude New Color Black -
We are now able to offer a new color, Black, starting with this TEST SAMPLE.
Horse nude leather possesses a grain surface (epidermis) with conflicting elements of both toughness and flexibility.
I feel it is a special leather that is strong against tensile force and flexible, making it resistant to scratches.
The finish allows you to truly experience the strength of leather.
