-ELEPHANT Sumizome-

Currently, the elephant leather distributed as leather is from African elephants.
It is characterized by large, distinctive folds and wrinkles in different areas, and upon closer inspection, a finely granular, raised grain (epidermis).

This time, this elephant leather has been finished with sumizome (ink dyeing).
Ink has long presented challenges in terms of poor color fixation, easy fading, and susceptibility to color transfer.

In 2023, through the tanner's many years of experience, technical expertise, and dyeing mastery,
they succeeded in applying sumizome to crocodile leather in a way that significantly reduced severe fading and color transfer.

Utilizing that same technique and dyeing mastery, they have now succeeded in applying sumizome to elephant leather as well.

When manufacturing with elephant leather,
we perform a process where only the edge near the sides is skived diagonally, allowing us to leverage the profound feel of the elephant leather while creating beautiful, integrated edges with the horse nude leather.

*Each product made with sumizome elephant leather will have unique variations in wrinkles, ink dye color, and unevenness.

Horse Nume Gray vintage realized by Shinki Hikaku's outstanding technology.
After about a year of development from last year's prototype, Shinki Hikaku has addressed all the issues found in the prototype samples, resulting in this finished product.

We are pleased to introduce the new color Black, starting with this TEST SAMPLE.
Horse Nume possesses a grain (epidermis) with conflicting properties: both strong and flexible.
I feel it is a special leather that is resistant to tensile strength and flexible, making it less prone to scratches.
The finish allows you to truly experience the strength of the leather.
