-ELEPHANT Sumi Dye -

Currently, the elephant leather available on the market is from African elephants.
It features large folds and wrinkles that are characteristic of different parts of the skin, and if you look closely, you can see a fine granular, raised grain (epidermis).

This elephant leather has been finished with sumi (ink) dye.
For many years, there has been a challenge with sumi dye: it is difficult to fix the color, prone to fading, and color transfer.

In 2023, thanks to the tanner's many years of experience, technical expertise, and dyeing mastery,
they successfully developed a sumi dyeing method for crocodile leather that greatly reduces fading and color transfer.

Utilizing this technology and dyeing mastery, they have now successfully applied sumi dyeing to elephant leather.

When producing items with elephant leather,
we perform a process of skiving only the edge area diagonally, which enhances the profound texture of the elephant leather while creating a beautiful, unified edge with the horse naked leather.

*Each product made with sumi-dyed elephant leather will have unique wrinkles, sumi dye shades, and unevenness.

- New Horse Naked Leather Gray Vintage developed over a year -
Horse Naked Leather Gray Vintage, realized through the outstanding techniques of Shinki Hikaku.
After about a year of development since last year's prototypes, Shinki Hikaku has addressed all issues found in the prototypes, resulting in this finished product.

*Each product in Gray Vintage will have unique gray tones and unevenness.

We are pleased to introduce the new color, Black, starting with this TEST SAMPLE.
Horse naked leather possesses a strong yet flexible grain, two seemingly contradictory qualities.
I believe it is a special leather that is resistant to tensile strength and flexible, making it less prone to scratches.
The finish allows you to truly experience the strength of leather.
