-ELEPHANT-
Currently, the elephant leather in circulation comes from African elephants.
It is characterized by large folds and wrinkles that vary depending on the part of the skin, and when you look closely, you can see a fine granular, raised grain (epidermis).
The gloss that develops with use and the substantial feel of the thick elephant leather.
By skiving only the edges diagonally, we have created a beautiful edge that integrates with the horse tanned leather while leveraging the substantial feel of the elephant leather.
-Horse Tanned GRAY VINTAGE-
Commissioned to Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Recognized worldwide for their 100% vegetable tannin pit tanning, which is based on their history, love, and pride for horsehide.
Continuing pit tanning for horse leather, which takes the longest time, even in an era where efficiency is prioritized.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible texture of pit-tanned horse leather, the lustrous burnished edges, and the increasing depth of gloss with use.
New Gray Vintage, a year in the making
Horse tanned Gray Vintage, achieved through Shinki Hikaku's outstanding techniques.
Shinki Hikaku has addressed all issues found in prototype samples over approximately one year, starting from last year's trials.
・The leather's fiber tightness has been adjusted for wallets and small items, differing from finishes for clothing or bags.
・Increased adhesion between the grain and flesh sides, resulting in a tighter horse tanned leather.
This has resulted in an ideal horse tanned leather with minimal grain lift.

Each item is meticulously crafted based on construction standards developed to maximize the appeal of the horse tanned Gray Vintage, a leather that embodies the wonderful characteristics of horse hide and the unwavering expertise of Shinki Hikaku, honed through a long history with horse leather.
