The elephant leather currently in circulation is from African elephants.
It features large, characteristic folds and wrinkles that vary by area, and when examined closely, the grain (epidermis) is finely granular and raised.
The more it is used, the more luster it develops, and the thick elephant leather possesses a substantial feel.
By skiving only the edges diagonally, we express a beautiful edge surface that integrates with the horse nume, while leveraging the substantial feel of the elephant leather.
This particular elephant leather has undergone a very elaborate finishing process, where a blue pearl color is applied only to the recessed parts of the uneven surface dyed black, revealing various expressions depending on the viewing angle and how the light hits it.
It's a Pearl Navy that tantalizes the discerning playfulness of adults, handcrafted by artisans.

Commissioned Shinki Leather, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning and dyeing to finishing in-house.
World-renowned 100% vegetable-tanned pit leather, based on a history, love, and pride for horse leather.
Even in an era where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the tradition of pit-tanned horse nume, which takes the longest time.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible texture inherent in pit-tanned horse nume, the glossy edges that shine when polished, and the increasing depth of luster with use.

Mastery of Dyeing Technique
The base color is dyed a vibrant blue, then a translucent dark blue is dyed over it, and finally, paraffin is impregnated using heat.
This complex three-layer dyeing and finishing process creates the color of this Blue Vintage.

Mastery of Finishing Technique
After glazing to create a thick luster, a crumpling process is applied to create wrinkles and a frosted appearance.
This crumpling process brings out the rich expressions of the grain surface due to differences in fiber quality in different parts of the hide.

The Horse Nume Blue Vintage, created with the wonderful natural properties of horse nume and the unstinting application of Shinki Leather's techniques, honed through long years of working with horse leather.
