-ELEPHANT-
Currently, the elephant leather distributed is from African elephants.
It is characterized by distinct large folds and wrinkles depending on the body part, and a fine granular, raised grain (surface) when observed closely.
The luster increases with use, and the thick elephant leather has a profound presence.
By skiving only near the edges at an angle, we've created a beautiful edge that seamlessly integrates with the horse nume leather, while still preserving the substantial feel of the elephant leather.
-Horse Nume BLACK VINTAGE-
Commissioned Shinki Hikaku, whose philosophy is to manage all processes from tanning, dyeing, to finishing in-house.
Globally recognized 100% vegetable-tanned pit-tanning, rooted in a history, love, and pride for horse leather.
Even in an era where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the time-consuming pit-tanning of horse nume.
Enjoy the firm yet flexible texture of pit-tanned horse nume, the beautifully polished edges, and the deepening luster with use.
The Art of Dyeing
This complex dyeing process, where the core of the horse nume is dyed in a brown-based color without the dye penetrating, and then transparent black dye is applied on top, creates the unique hue of this Black Vintage.
The Art of Finishing
After achieving a thick luster through glazing, the leather is milled to create wrinkles and a frosted appearance.
Milling brings out a richer expression in the grain surface due to differences in fiber quality across various parts of the hide.
Horse Nume Black Vintage, a product that combines the wonderful inherent qualities of horse nume with the extensive expertise of Shinki Hikaku, who have long worked with horse leather.
Each piece is crafted according to production standards meticulously developed to maximize the potential of this horse nume.
