we actively adopt horsehide with a wax finish as the base leather, giving it a brown core,
and dahl plating for the metal parts.

We will name and develop the combination of horsehide with a brown core + dahl-plated metal fittings as
- GB specification - (Germanic Bronze specification).


The origin of dahl plating is said to come from the English word "Dark" or its dark color, "Darl."

Historically, dahl plating has various color variations and
was widely used as a high-class decorative finish in the Japanese furniture industry from the 1960s to the 1970s.

The manufacturing method involves thinly plating brass or copper with black.
When new, the appearance is not just black, but creates subtle gradations with color irregularities and variations in light.
As it is used, the metal parts also develop a brown core texture, which is a characteristic of dahl plating.


Among the various shades of dahl plating,
there is a color name called Germanic Bronze.

What kind of leather is horsehide, and how can we maximize its wonderfulness?
Over the past few years, I have learned a lot, including my past experiences.
Different sewing methods can create various textures.
Please experience the versatile horsehide leather.

Shinki Hikaku's horsehide is 【Delicate yet strong, and versatile】.
These conflicting elements are the essence of horsehide.
The fibers are very fine, and the tensile strength of the grain far surpasses that of cowhide.
The changes in expression and texture due to finishing are diverse.
I feel that it is a special leather that is strong against tension and flexible, making it resistant to scratches.


[Metal Parts]

The -GB specification- uses an original brass ring with dahl plating.
The Excella zipper is black.
Both the brown core of the horsehide and the brown core of the dahl plating will be designated as [GB specification].



The interior is made of horsehide with a brown core base and a thick wax finish.
The edges are polished to a brown core.
