For the 2026 TEST SAMPLE,
we actively adopt horse nume leather with a wax finish that creates a brown core for the leather,
and durl plating for the metal parts.

We will name the combination of horse nume leather with a brown core + durl-plated metal fittings as
- GB Specification - (Germanic Bronze Specification)
and develop it accordingly.


The origin of "durl plating" is said to be derived from the English word "Dark" (dark),
or from its darkish color "Darl."

Historically, durl plating had various color variations,
and was widely used as a luxurious decorative finish in the Japanese furniture industry from the 1960s to the 1970s.

The manufacturing method involves thinly plating black onto brass or copper.
When new, the finish is not just black, but creates subtle gradations depending on color variations and light.
As it is used, the metal parts also acquire the texture of a brown core, which is a characteristic of durl plating.


Among the various shades of durl plating,
there is a color name called Germanic Bronze.

Horse Nume Extra Thick Hon Shrink, which can only be made from extra-thick horse nume leather with a raw thickness exceeding 2mm, is truly a carefully selected leather.
Horse nume leather has a grain surface with contradictory elements: toughness and flexibility.
I feel that it is a special leather that is resistant to tensile strength and flexible, making it less prone to scratches.
The finish allows you to experience what leather strength truly means.

A new brown-core horse nume leather that we started working with in 2025.
A challenge from "vintage feel" to "antique feel."
A black color that creates an antique feel, with the underlying base faintly showing through due to the dyeing.

This is the -GB specification- that was born precisely because we created this horse nume leather.

What kind of leather is horse nume, and how can its wonderfulness be maximized?
Over the past few years, I have learned a lot, including from my previous experiences.
Different textures can be created with different tailoring methods.

Shinki Hikaku's horse nume leather is [delicate yet tough, and versatile].
These contradictory elements are the essence of horse nume leather.
The fibers are very fine, and the tensile strength of the grain side far surpasses that of cow nume leather.
The changes in expression and texture due to finishing are diverse.
I feel that it is a special leather that is resistant to tensile strength and flexible, making it less prone to scratches.


[Metal Parts]

The -GB specification- uses original brass rings with durl plating.
The Excella zipper is black.
Both the brown core of the horse nume leather and the brown core of the durl plating are designated as [GB specification].



The interior is made of brown-core horse nume leather with a thick wax finish.
The edges are polished with the brown core left intact.
The stitching is black.
An antique black color with the underlying base faintly showing through.
