For the 2026 TEST SAMPLE,
we actively adopted wax-finished brown-core horsehide nume leather and dahl plating for metal parts.

The combination of brown-core horsehide nume leather + dahl-plated metal fittings
will be named and developed as - GB Specification - (Germanic Bronze Specification).


The origin of dahl plating is said to be from the English word "Dark"
or its dark color "Darl".

Historically, dahl plating had various color variations
and was widely used as a high-quality decorative finish in the Japanese furniture industry from the 1960s to 1970s.

The manufacturing method involves thinly plating brass or copper with black.
When new, the surface is not just black, but has color unevenness and subtle gradations depending on the light.
As it is used, the metal parts also acquire the texture of a brown core, which is a characteristic of dahl plating.


Among the various shades of dahl plating,
there is a color named Germanic Bronze.

challenges a new braiding technique
and a new production using horsehide nume leather for the first time.
　
From an era where wallets were tucked away in bags, to an era of showcasing them again...
subtly asserting its presence,
this is a new sensation in wallet ropes.

Available in 3 colors:
Brown-core based black and brown.
Black was produced in two types: all black and black with a brown-core edge.


［Metal Parts］

-GB specification- uses an original brass hook with dahl plating.
The snap hook and rivets are also dahl plated.
Both the brown core of the horsehide nume and the brown core of the dahl plating are considered [GB specification].

Horsehide nume leather with a brown core, which we started working on in 2025.
A challenge from "vintage" to "antique" feel.
Black with an antique feel where the base subtly shows through.
The brown-core based black is still evolving.

The -GB specification- was born because we created this horsehide nume leather.
Horsehide nume leather by Shinki Hikaku is 【 delicate yet robust, and infinitely adaptable 】
These conflicting elements are the essence of horsehide nume leather.
The fibers are very fine, and the tensile strength of the grain is far superior to cowhide nume leather.
The changes in appearance and texture due to the finish are diverse.
We feel it is a special leather that is strong against tensile stress and flexible, making it resistant to scratches.
The finished product allows you to truly experience the strength of leather.
