the metal parts feature darl plating, which develops a brown core with age.
The origin of darl plating is said to come from the English word "Dark" or its dark hue, "Darl."
Historically, darl plating had various color variations and became widely popular as a high-end decorative finish in the Japanese furniture industry from the 1960s to the 1970s.
The manufacturing method involves thinly plating brass or copper with black.
When new, it's not just black; it creates subtle gradations due to color irregularities and light.
As it's used, the metal parts develop a brown core texture, which is a characteristic of darl plating.

Horse nume extra-thick full-grain leather, which can only be made from horse nume with a raw thickness exceeding 2mm, can truly be called carefully selected leather.
Horse nume has a grain surface (ginmen) with conflicting elements: toughness and flexibility.
I feel it is a special leather that is resistant to tearing and flexible, making it less prone to damage.
The finish allows you to truly experience what leather strength is.
Horse nume leather from Shinki Hikaku is "delicate yet tough, and infinitely versatile."
