The representative of crocodile leather
Crocodile leather with beautifully aligned rectangular scales on the belly, known as small scale crocodile, is considered the highest grade among crocodile leathers.
It inhabits estuaries and brackish waters where rivers and fresh water mix in areas such as Papua New Guinea, Australia, and Indonesia.
It is a species with strong resistance to saltwater compared to the Nile crocodile.
Due to overhunting, small crocodiles from Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia are now listed in Appendix II of CITES.
As their absolute numbers are low and many are traded by luxury brands, they command very high prices.
Please enjoy the plump texture and the finely arranged scale patterns of the beautiful bamboo scutes (takefu) and round scutes (marufu).

Bridle finish

A bridle finish applied to crocodile leather, completed as a new initiative by the tannery.
Wax is brushed onto the surface of black-dyed crocodile leather.
It is also called "waxed leather" because it looks as if white powder, known as bloom, has been applied.
As you use it, the applied wax permeates the leather, and the whiteness disappears.
The friction will then create a shine, further deepening the black color.
This bridle finish was developed from the tannery's desire for you to enjoy a new aging process for crocodile leather.
Since the expression of the luster varies depending on the intensity and duration of friction, each user will create their own unique expression.


-Horse Nume GRAY VINTAGE-
Commissioned Shinki Hikaku, which adheres to the philosophy of managing all processes from tanning to dyeing and finishing in-house.
Shinki Hikaku's 100% vegetable-tanned pit leather, recognized worldwide for its history, love, and pride in horsehide.
Even in modern times where efficiency is prioritized, they continue the pit tanning of horsehide, which is the most time-consuming process.
Please enjoy the firm yet flexible feel, the lustrous polished edges, and the deepening luster that develops with use, all characteristic of pit-tanned horsehide.

New Gray Vintage developed over a year
Horse Nume Gray Vintage, realized through Shinki Hikaku's exceptional craftsmanship.
Over approximately one year since last year's prototype, Shinki Hikaku has addressed and improved all issues found in the prototype samples.

・Unlike finishes for apparel and bags, the tightness of the nume fibers was perfected for wallets and small leather goods.
・The adhesion between the grain and flesh sides has increased, resulting in a firm horsehide.

And the ideal horsehide finish was achieved with minimal grain lift.



Horse Nume Gray Vintage, created by generously applying Shinki Hikaku's technology, which has long been in dialogue with horsehide, to the wonderful inherent qualities of horse nume leather.
Each piece is crafted one by one according to our manufacturing standards, aiming to maximize the potential of this horse nume leather.
